No-pull vs step-in harness: which one?

Harness style matters more than most people think. The two you'll see everywhere are the no-pull (front-clip) harness and the step-in harness — they solve different problems.

No-pull / front-clip

A front-clip harness redirects forward motion sideways, so a dog that lunges is gently turned back toward you. Best for strong pullers, big dogs and leash training. The trade-off is a little more fiddling to put on.

Step-in

A step-in harness lays flat, your dog steps in, and you clip once at the back. It's the fastest to put on and the most comfortable for calm walkers — ideal for small dogs, seniors and wriggly pups who hate things going over their head.

How to decide

Ask one question: does your dog pull? If yes, start with a front-clip no-pull harness. If walks are relaxed, a step-in is simpler and just as safe. Whichever you choose, fit is everything — measure the chest and check two fingers fit under every strap.

Make it theirs
